After eight years, we are changing our tagline from “Guidance with a Plan” to “Generational Planning for Yinz.”

When we first created the tagline “Guidance with a Plan,” it captured something fundamental about Beratung Advisors: we don’t just give advice—we guide people, and we do it with a financial plan. It was clear. It was practical. It set us apart from firms that told people what to do and just did investment management or gave advice without a plan.

But as Beratung grew over the years, we started to realize it didn’t fully capture who we serve, what we do, and how we serve them.

Who We Serve – Yinz

We serve Yinz—the people of Pittsburgh. Not just the ultra-wealthy, but busy working professionals, business owners, and families trying to build something that lasts. The people working long hours, making sacrifices, balancing careers and kids, and trying to figure out how to provide not just for themselves but for the next generation.

We serve the 412. Our mission is bigger than financial planning. It’s about creating an impact so great that if Beratung Advisors were to close its doors, our community would weep.

We are a financial planning firm that happens to do investment management when our clients want it or need it—unlike so many others that are investment management firms who happen to do financial planning if their clients want it.

We are CFP professionals who follow the financial planning process for all six areas of financial planning. We help clients create a plan to pursue their goals and live a fulfilling life.

Financial planning isn’t just about today—it’s about the next generation and the one after that. It’s about normal, hard-working people in Pittsburgh making smart decisions that don’t just impact their own lives but create something bigger for their families. It’s about legacy, security, and ensuring that wealth—however big or small—doesn’t disappear with one generation but grows over time. It’s about generation after generation making this community stronger.

That’s why we updated our tagline to “Generational Planning for Yinz.”
Because that’s exactly what we do.

The Power of Generational Blessing

This shift wasn’t just about marketing—it was about clarifying our purpose and getting back to who we are.

One of the inspirations behind this change was Kari Jobe’s song The Blessing. The lyrics are based on the biblical blessing from Numbers 6:24-26:

“The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine on you and be gracious to you;
The Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace.”

But the part that really hits home for me is this:

“May His favor be upon you
And a thousand generations
And your family and your children
And their children and their children.”

The first time I heard this song, I could not stand it. The priestly blessing is one of my favorite passages of Scripture, and I felt like she was butchering it.

Then, one day, as I was listening to it on the radio and it came to the part where she starts saying “and their children and their children” over and over again, I felt it deep in my soul.

That’s what it’s all about.

That’s why God promised Abraham that his descendants would be more numerous than the stars. That’s what the clients we serve want—a better future for their children and their children for a thousand generations.

That’s what we’re doing at Beratung.

We’re not just working with numbers—we’re helping build something that outlives us.

We are doing kingdom work!
